The truncation formula is not really available in the formulas menu, several schools in South America uses this system where need a grade that a raw calculation is 7.54653 to be shown as 7.54 (with 2 decimal places with NO ROUNDING); we have been told to use the Floor formula to get the same results.
However, this have produced error in some calculations which make reduce reliability Gradebooks and increasing operational risks.
The current TRUNC formula will round to an integer, instead of work as Excel does asking which number of decimal places you need to be shown (see attached).
Hello,
We have just completed testing a feature in Gradebooks that allows users to truncate values instead of rounding to a specific decimal place.
This option will also be added to Curriculum Manager, which we are currently testing with "Alpha Testers" in Ecuador and the Dominican Republic to ensure compatibility with local statutory requirements for GPA and transcripts.
We are in the final stages of testing and aim to release this feature next month.
If you would like to BETA test this feature now, please reach out to your Customer Account Manager and ask to be connected with me regarding Gradebooks Truncation.
Many thanks,
Shawn Carr
This functionality is very relevant to most LATAM Countries, and it should be quite simple for ISAMS to deploy. Please do include it.
