Dear all,
WE would like to have the ability to transfer grades between gradebooks, this is specially useful when the student changed their Form or a Subject. By enabling this feature might reduce the problems with redundant reports that pulls information from the previous form/subject that we need to manually identify and remove from "Unwanted reports".
All the best
Hello,
Thank you for sharing your feedback.
This is a popular and challenging request, especially given how flexible Gradebooks are in allowing users to customize their columns and grade sets. Since you have a lot of freedom in deciding how grades are allocated and which formulas are applied, the calculated columns in different Gradebooks may not be compatible. This can lead to formatting issues when moving grades automatically from one Gradebook to another.
We are looking into addressing this within the Curriculum Manager module. This module will become a central place where schools can manage, template, and allocate Gradebooks for all of their classes. Within Curriculum Manager, you'll be able to provision two types of Gradebooks: a Class Gradebook and a Course Gradebook.
A Class Gradebook will allow users to template Gradebooks that behave similarly to your existing ones, with the exception that you won’t need to create them on a Gradebook-by-Gradebook basis. The columns in the template will not be editable by the end user, though they will still be able to add their own columns, grade sets, and formulas to the template you provide.
We will also offer a Course Gradebook, which may help address the issue you’ve outlined in your feature request. A Course Gradebook functions similarly to a Class Gradebook, but all columns will be pre-templated and the end user won’t be able to add their own columns, grade sets, or formulas. This setup will allow Gradebooks templated as part of a Course Gradebook to transfer grade data seamlessly as students move from class to class.
Please let me know if you have any thoughts on this. We are still in the planning stages of this feature, and I’d appreciate your feedback on whether a Course Gradebook would meet your needs
Many thanks
Shawn
