Although we are a girls’ school, we have a number of pupils here who identify as male or gender neutral. As a result, we are increasingly being asked to use preferred gender pronouns rather than she, her and hers. At present there is a field for ‘Preferred Name’ and we really need there to be similar for ‘Preferred Pronouns’. These would need to be picked up in emails sent through email wizard, and be visible in the Pupil’s Profile Page so that teachers can easily find the information to inform report writing etc.
What's also important here is if a Student Identifies as other than their birth Gender, that an option is built to determine whether the Pronouns are for internal use only, or if the Student has agreed that the information may be shared with parents. We are a college, not all of our students have shared preferred names, preferred pronouns, preferred Gender identify with their parents.
